Travel Insurance
1. Are there any Exclusions to my policy?
As with all types of insurance policies Travel Insurance has some exclusions. Only the main exclusions are listed below; the complete list will be included in your policy document.
- Any pre-existing medical condition or any medical condition for which the concerned person is receiving or is awaiting treatment in a hospital or nursing home at the date of issue or date of journey (whichever is later) except where the Additional Medical Extension is stated as operative in the Schedule and the claim does not relate directly or indirectly to an Unacceptable Medical Condition.
- Oman Insurance Company will not make any payment for medical conditions which you have, if you travel or would be travelling against the advice of a qualified medical practitioner.
- Oman Insurance Company will not pay the cost of any medical treatment or of returning home early, which we have not agreed to beforehand, other than for emergency treatment, which, on the advice of a qualified medical practitioner, would be unreasonable to wait.
- Oman Insurance Company will not pay any claim, which arises out of pregnancy or childbirth where the baby is due during the period on insurance or within 12 weeks of expiry of policy.
- Oman Insurance Company will not pay any claim arising out of mountaineering or rock climbing that uses ropes or guides, bungee jumping, scuba diving, pot holing or organized team events if these covers have not been opted for (see premium table).
- Oman Insurance Company will not pay any claim, which arises out of your participation in anything covered in our winter sports extension or sports extension, unless we have been notified before you travel that you require this to be operative and you have paid the appropriate premium.
- Personal Belongings or personal luggage, which you have left unattended.
2. Does my plan cover Pre-existing Medical Conditions?
Yes, provided you pay the additional premium for Additional Medical Extension.

3. Does my plan cover winter sports or hazardous activities?
Yes, provided you pay the additional premium. The plan will cover you as well as your equipment.
Sports Extensions:
- Scuba Diving - 100% additional premium
- Winter Sports - 100% additional premium
- Sports and Hazardous activities - 100% additional premium
4. How much do I have to pay?
The following table lists the premium per person, per policy. There is no limit to the number of people who can be insured.

5. Is there an annual policy?
Yes, this policy can be used as annual insurance, which entitles you to unlimited trips during the insured period to a maximum of 62 days for any one trip (Persons aged 18-64 years)
Premium payable is:
Business Travel only: | Dhs. 820 |
Business & Holiday Travel: | Dhs. 1,050 |
- Persons aged 65-69 – 150% of above rates.
- Policy can be made on an individual basis for a 6 month period for 75% of the above annual premiums subject to a maximum period any one trip, journey or holiday of 30 days.
- For children under the age of 16 there is a 50% discount on the above rates.

Section A: Cancellation Charges
Reimbursement of your trip expenses, should you be forced to cancel before for reasons specified in the policy.
Section B: Emergency Medical Expenses
Cost of medical treatment and associated costs are covered in the event of an accident or sickness whilst on your trip. This may also include cost of repatriation if required, together with reasonable accommodation costs.
Section C: Cutting Short your Journey
If you are forced to cut short your trip after departure for a specified reason, you will be reimbursed with the proportionate cost of your travel and accommodation paid for by you, but not utilised.
Section D: Personal Accident
You are covered for any accidental injury which results in death, loss of limb(s), loss of sight or permanent total disablement.
Section E: Loss of Passport
If your passport is lost or stolen replacement costs plus any reasonable additional accommodation and travel expenses are covered.
Section F: Loss of Baggage
Reimbursement for any damaged or lost personal baggage or belongings whilst on your trip.
Section G: Delayed Baggage
Reimbursement of cost of essential items if your baggage is temporarily lost on your outward journey for more than 12 hours.
Section H: Personal Money
Reimbursement for the theft or loss of personal money such as cash, traveller's cheques, letters of credit, travel tickets, hotel vouchers, etc.
Section I: Personal Liability
Your legal liability for any bodily injury or property damage to a third party (including claimant’s cost and expenses) and defense costs are covered.
Section J: Missed Departure
Reimbursement in respect of reasonable additional accommodation and travel expenses (otherwise irrecoverable), in the event of missed departure due to interruption of public transport as a result of either mechanical breakdown, strike, riot, civil commotion or inclement weather or accident to private transport.
Section K: Legal Expenses
Oman Insurance Company undertakes to execute, at its expense, all amicable intervention or judicial action with a view to obtain pecuniary repair to physical damage suffered by an insured person as a result of an accident involving the liability of a person who is in no way related to you and who is not an insured person under this policy.
7. What procedure do I follow to make a claim?
