Bayani Prepaid Card FAQs

The RAKBANK Bayani Prepaid Card is an addition to the existing suite of Prepaid Cards offered by RAKBANK. It is a reloadable Prepaid Card created for the Filipino nationals living in the UAE, and comes with dual currency wallets – AED & USD, on which you can load in the AED wallet and then move funds between the AED and USD wallets. The Bayani Card can be used at any ATM or merchant outlet globally that accepts MasterCard Cards and can also be used to shop online. You can reload your Bayani Card as many times as needed.

The RAKBANK Bayani Prepaid Card is not a Credit or Debit Card. You can only spend up to the amount that you have loaded on your Card - so there is never anything you need to repay.
Unlike a Debit Card, the Bayani Card is not linked to any current or savings account with the Bank. Since you only spend the amount that you have loaded on your Bayani Card, you stay in complete control of your finances.

The Bayani Card can be used at over 36 million merchants that accept MasterCard Cards around the world. This Prepaid Card can also be used as a remittance Card, because with every Bayani Card you purchase, you get an Add-on Bayani Card, which can be sent to your family in Philippines. You can transfer funds to your Add-on Bayani Card for use by your family in Philippines to spend at any retail merchant or to withdraw Cash at any ATM which accepts MasterCard Cards.

The Bayani Card has two currency wallets (AED & USD) on the same Card. It allows movement of funds between the AED and USD wallets by simply sending an SMS or logging in to the ‘Manage Your Prepaid Card’ portal. Two Bayani Cards will be issued with every application – a Main Card and an Add-on Card. The Main Card is meant for use in the UAE and the Add-on card is meant to be sent to your family in Philippines.

When the Add-on Card is sent to your family in Philippines, funds can be easily transferred from your Main Card to your Add-on Card, thereby substituting the remittance through an Exchange House. The Add-on Card will be able to receive the money instantly.

Your RAKBANK prepaid Card insures you against damage or theft of purchases made by use of the Bayani Card. Click here to read more about the Purchase Protection insurance.

You are provided a host of travel related insurance covers should you choose to pay for your travel by using your Bayani Card. Click here to read more about the Travel Accident insurance.

The Bayani Card is a Prepaid Card created for Filipinos living in the UAE. It is a dual currency wallet card which can hold AED & USD currency. With two cards issued with every application – a Main Card and an Add-on Card, it is very easy to transfer funds to your loved ones in Philippines. Further, the Card has over 100 offers & discounts on purchases at many retail outlets all over the UAE. Out of the 100 offers there are over 30 offers that are Filipino specific at outlets frequented by Filipinos.

The Add-on Card is meant to be sent to your family living in Philippines. Funds can be transferred to the Add-on Card from the Main Card and your family will be able to receive funds instantly for making purchases and cash withdrawal. ATM Cash withdrawals performed using the Add-on Card in Peso currency anywhere in Philippines will be free of cost.
The Add-on Card can also be loaded directly in AED currency. This provides flexibility, when your family member holding the Add-on Card is visiting you in the UAE, and need not carry cash around for local expenses.

If you are an existing RAKBANK customer, you can also log in to your Internet Banking to apply for the Bayani Card.

The Bayani welcome pack will consist of the Main Card and the Add-on Card. Upon receipt of the same, you can send the Add-on card to your family in Philippines.

Please follow the steps in the same order

  • Activate your Main Card by sending an SMS from your mobile number registered with the Bank for your Prepaid Card to 2737 in the following format: ACT <Card ID>
For example, if your Card ID is AED 10300000123, then send ACT AED10300000123
  • Load your Main Card in AED
  • Set your PIN for your Main Card through SMS for use at ATMs and retail POS transactions (please refer to the SMS format section in these FAQs on how to send a SMS for setting your PIN)
  • Move funds to the USD wallet on your Main Card
  • Send the Add-on Card to your family back home in Philippines
  • When they securely receive the Add-on Card, activate the Card by sending an SMS (please refer to the SMS format section in these FAQs on how to send a SMS to activate your Add-on Card)
  • Transfer money from the USD wallet of your Main Card to that of your Add-on Card
  • Set a PIN for the Add-on Card for use at ATMs and retail POS transactions and advise this PIN in a secure manner to your family in Philippines (please refer to the SMS format section in these FAQs on how to send a SMS for setting your PIN)

Since all Bayani Cards are Chip & PIN cards, you will require a PIN to use your Bayani Card for cash withdrawal at ATMs, and for retail purchases at merchant outlets.

The Main Card will carry the name “MY BAYANI CARD” and the Add-on card will have the name “PREPAID CARD” on it. Moreover, the welcome letter which you will get along with your Bayani Cards will clearly identify these cards separately, and will also guide you on the steps to be followed to ‘get started’ with both Cards.

You can register on the self-care portal by following the below mentioned steps:

  • Click on ‘Manage your Prepaid Card’ tab and select ‘Register’ button at the bottom of the page
  • Enter your Card ID, Date of Birth and Mobile number registered with the bank
  • A 6-digit Passcode will be sent to your mobile number registered with the bank
  • Enter the 6-digit Passcode on the next screen
  • Create your preferred User ID and Password*
  • A confirmation message will be displayed upon successful creation of username and password

*The password should be minimum 8 characters and must contain at least one upper case alphabet, one lower case alphabet, one number and one of the following special characters *, $, %, !
Once you have been registered, you will be able to view transaction details and check the balance of your Prepaid Card online.

The Add-on Card is meant for use by your family in Philippines. Although this Card can be used globally, the Add-on cardholder will enjoy free ATM Cash withdrawal in Peso currency only in Philippines. The Add-on Card will therefore facilitate funds transfer to your family in Philippines at a very low cost.
Both the Main Card & Add-on Card will be sent to the customer applying for the Bayani Prepaid Card, and the customer will need to send the Add-on Card to the family in Philippines.

You can load your Main Bayani Card with cash through the following options:

  • Deposit cash in our Electronic Deposit Machines (EDMs) located at all RAKBANK branches.
  • Make a payment at any of our partner Exchange Houses

If you have an existing RAKBANK Account or Credit Card, in addition to the above, you could also use any of the following channels for loading your Bayani Card by transfering from your Account or Credit Card:

The Add-on Card can be loaded directly in AED currency only. Alternatively, to fund your Add-on Card in USD, you will need to do a Card-to-Card transfer from the USD wallet of your Main Card.

The maximum balance permitted on your Bayani Card is AED 50,000. This amount will be inclusive of balances on both the currency wallets on the Bayani Card.

As mentioned earlier, there are two currency wallets (AED & USD) on each Card. A wallet-to-wallet transfer is performed when you want to move funds from the AED wallet to the USD wallet or vice versa of the same Card. This can be done on both the Main Card and the Add-on card. To perform a wallet-to-wallet transfer, simply send a SMS or log in to the ‘Manage Your Prepaid Card’ portal. (please refer to the SMS format section in these FAQs on how to send a SMS for doing a wallet-to-wallet transfer)

The Wallet-to-Wallet transfer can be done upto the balance available on the respective wallet.

The Card-to-Card transfer feature enables transfer of funds from the Main Card to the Add-on Card. It serves as an alternative to the remittance that you send to your family through an exchange house. When you send the Add-on Card to your family in Philippines, funds can be transferred instantly to your family by simply doing a Card-to-Card transfer in USD or AED, by sending a SMS or logging in to the ‘Manage Your Prepaid Card’ portal. (please refer to the SMS format section in these FAQs on how to send a SMS for doing a card-to-card transfer)

The Card-to-Card transfer between two Bayani Cards can be done upto AED 10,000 per day. Please note that the Card-to-Card transfer will be treated like a normal retail transaction, therefore performing a Card-to-Card transaction up to the maximum limit of AED 10,000 per day will not allow anymore retail transactions to be performed on that Card for that day.

The maximum limit for carrying out retail transactions on your Bayani Card is AED 10,000 per day. This amount will be inclusive of transactions carried out on both the currency wallets on your Bayani Card.

Yes, funds can be moved between AED & USD wallets within the same card on both the Main Card and the Add-on card, by sending a SMS or by logging in to the ‘Manage Your Prepaid Card’ portal. Please note that no decimal values will be accepted.

The wallet-to-wallet transfer can be performed on the Add-on card as well, and can be initiated by the Main Cardholder or Add-on Cardholder by logging in to the ‘Manage Your Prepaid Card’ portal. Additionally, this can also be initiated through SMS, which can only be sent from the Main Cardholder’s mobile number provided to the Bank.

You can send money to the Add-on Card by performing a Card-to-Card transfer or by loading the Add-on Card directly in AED currency. Similar to wallet-to-wallet transfer, Card-to-Card transfers can also be performed by sending a SMS or by logging in to the ‘Manage your Prepaid Card’ portal. The Card-to-Card transfers will be carried out instantly and the funds can be used by the recipient immediately. Please note that Card-to-Card transfers can be performed only within the same currency – i.e. funds can either be transferred from the AED wallet of one Card to the AED wallet of the other Card, or from the USD wallet of one Card to the USD wallet of the other Card. No decimal values will be accepted.

If you intend to transfer USD to the Add-on Card, you will have to first perform a wallet-to-wallet transfer from AED to USD on your Main card and then carry out a Card-to-Card transfer from the USD wallet of the Main Card to the USD wallet of the Add-on Card.

Card-to-Card transfer can be done from the Add-on card to the Main card by sending a SMS or by logging in to the ‘Manage Your Prepaid Card’ portal. Only the Main cardholder can initiate such transfer through SMS as the mobile number registered will be that of the Main cardholder. However, the Add-on card holder will be able to use the ‘Manage Your Prepaid Card’ portal to do the transfer.

The Add-on Card will not be charged for ATM cash withdrawal in Peso currency in Philippines. However, the Main Card will be charged for any ATM cash withdrawal anywhere in the world.

The maximum limit for ATM Cash withdrawal on your Bayani Card is AED 1000 per day. This amount will be inclusive of ATM Cash withdrawals carried out on both the currency wallets on your Bayani Card.

No, funds cannot be transferred from Bling/Loaded Prepaid Card to the Bayani Prepaid Card or vice-versa..

You will be able to transfer funds only between the Bayani Cards issued under your name. This does not limit only between the Main Card and Add-on Card – if you have two Main Cards and two Add-on Cards, Card-to-Card transfer can be performed between any two Cards that you have.

All AED transactions that you perform with your Bayani Card will be charged to your AED wallet, provided sufficient funds are available in that wallet. All USD transactions that you perform with your Bayani Card will be charged to your USD wallet, provided sufficient funds are available in that wallet.

No. You will be required to have sufficient balance in the AED wallet, if the transaction is performed in AED currency and sufficient funds in the USD wallet if the transaction is performed in any currency other than AED. If the respective currency wallet does not have the required funds for the transaction, such transaction would be declined.

Such transaction would be declined. You will need to have sufficient funds in the AED wallet to perform a successful transaction in AED currency.

By default, all non AED transactions will be charged to the USD wallet, provided sufficient funds are available in that wallet. If the USD wallet does not have the required funds available, then such transaction will be declined.

Balance enquiry for both AED & USD currency can be made by sending an SMS to 2737 from the mobile number provided to the Bank in a pre-determined format or by logging in to the ‘Manage Your Prepaid Card’ portal. (please refer to the SMS format section in these FAQs on how to send a SMS for balance enquiry)

A ‘Manage Your Prepaid Card’ portal access is provided on successful activation of the Main Card and Add-on Card separately. The Main Cardholder can share the ‘Manage Your Prepaid Card’ portal login details of the Add-on Card with the Add-on Cardholder for checking the available balance and transactions.

After entering the Username (Card number) and Password on the ‘Manage Your Prepaid Card’ portal, the balance in both wallets will be displayed for your Card. The Wallet-to-Wallet transfer tab in the left panel can be selected to carry out transfers within the same Card and the amount and currency will have to be entered to complete the transfer.
Similarly, the Card-to-Card transfer tab can be selected to carry out transfers between two Bayani Cards issued to the same customer. The amount and currency will have to be specified to complete the transfer.

Customers can verify the applicable exchange rate through ‘Manage Your Prepaid Card’ portal when you perform the wallet-to-wallet transfer. Customers can also enquire the applicable exchange rate by sending an SMS to 2737 in the pre-determined format. (please refer to the SMS format section in these FAQs on how to send a SMS for exchange rate enquiry)

Only the Main cardholder can initiate such transfer through SMS as the mobile number registered will be that of the Main cardholder. However, the Add-on card holder will be able to use the ‘Manage Your Prepaid Card’ portal to do the transfer.
